Sata 2 SSD

I have read in the last 1,2 years that buying a SSD is a big deal for a developer, especially for a SharePoint developer. If you have a computer with an I7 processor and at least 8 GB ram, all you need is a SSD and then you can start your SharePoint work, but….

I have a Dell XPS laptop, I7, 8 GB ram. I just replaced my old 7200 RPM, 640 GB hdd, with a Sata 2 SSD, 240 GB, OCZ (http://www.ocztechnology.com/ocz-vertex-2-sata-ii-2-5-ssd.html). Before, with the old hdd, the build time for a big Silverlight project was approx 8 minutes, with the new SSD is around 6 minutes. So performance on this increased with something around 20, 25%. I am a bit disappointed, I thought that the performance on this kind of tasks (development tasks) will be greater. Of course the laptop is booting faster, but from a developer point of view that’s all? (20 – 25%) 😦
